Q & A
- Q. How much do you charge?
Pacific's 'guide' fee for 2009/10 ranges from £900 - £1,200. Exact quotes will be given for each enquiry depending on venue location, duration of set-list and other details. The 'guide' fee is subject to change at any time and generally bookings will prove most expensive when booked with short notice so book in advance to secure the best price.
- Q. What geographical area do you cover?
Glasgow, Edinburgh, Perth and Stirling areas. However, we're happy to consider requests to travel further afield - please e-mail us for further details.
- Q. Is your equipment PAT tested?
Yes. All of our equipment has been PAT tested and can be viewed online if necessary. An increasing number of venues now require this.
- Q. What is your line-up
Consisting of 5 multi-instrumentalists, the band line-up will vary to suit each type of song. Our positions consist of: Lead Vocals (female), Keyboards/Accordian with backing vocals, Drums with backing vocals, Guitar/Bass guitar, Saxophones/Bass guitar with backing vocals.
We are also able to offer varying packages which can include additional musicians such as Violin, Trumpet and Trombone depending on your requirements. Please e-mail us for additional information.
- Q. Can we use your sound system for speeches/raffles etc?
Unfortunately not. We have a top of the range sound system to ensure you get the best possible sound and it is only insured to be used by band members.
- Q. How long do you play for?
We normally perform two 'live' sets. Typically this would be from 8pm-9.45pm and 10.15pm-12mn. We can accommodate to your specific requirements and agree the timings with you in advance. Please do not leave it until the night to ask us to play later than agreed as this is normally not possible due to transport arrangements.
- Q. Can you provide pre-recorded music when you're not performing?
Yes. We have a selection of mp3 files which will be played when no live music is being performed. If you let us know in advance, we are happy for you to provide your own mp3 player with your own music uploaded.
- Q. Do you require refreshments?
Yes please. If there is no buffet during the break, any form of light snack would be greatly appreciated.
- Q. Should we provide you with directions to the venue?
Directions aren't usually necessary as our vehicles are equipped with GPS. It's also likely we will have performed at your venue previously. However, advice as to parking and unloading of vehicles is always appreciated and will allow us to set up quickly and easily.
- Q. What will you be wearing?
Pacific as standard practice always wear suits and evening wear. We can also arrive in 'smart-casual' if you feel it is more appropriate for your event. Please advise this at the time of booking.
- Q. Do you call the Ceilidh dances?
Of course. We will talk your guests through the dances, and even demonstrate if necessary.
- Q. Do I need to arrange a changing room for you?
Yes. Your venue should be happy to provide this free of charge.
- Q. When do we settle the remainder of your fee?
The remaining fee should be settled in cash prior to the first dance. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept cheques or any other form of payment. As we are obviously extremely busy prior to commencement of the set, it would help us if you could arrange for the designated person to approach us with the balance due.
- Q. Do you supply a contract?
Yes. When you arrange to book Pacific we will supply you with a contract to confirm the booking and arrangements. The booking is confirmed only when the client has returned the signed contract to us with a deposit.
- Q. Can I see you play 'live'?
The vast majority of our bookings are for private functions. Most clients are happy for you to observe discreetly (as they may have done the same) - please e-mail us and we can advise on a gig by gig basis.
- Q. What are your stage and electricity requirements?
Pacific can perform with or without staging, indoors and outdoors (covered). We require a minimum area of 6.5mx4.5m to accommodate the band and PA/lighting. This area must be level, dry and free from obstacles and Fire Exits etc. In addition, we require at least two 13A sockets to power our PA and Lights safely.
- Q. I can't hear the demo tracks on your website - can you send me your free demo CD?
Certainly. E-mail your postal address and we'll send one to you.
- Q. How do I know whether you're available?
Please contact us and we will advise on availability. Pacific can be booked up to 2 years in advance so an early booking is advisable to avoid disappointment.
- Q. How do I make a booking?
Simply e-mail us and we'll get back to you. We also send out a contract and ask for a small deposit before the booking is 'final'.
- Q. Can I provisionally book you?
Unfortunately not. Pacific is very much in demand and as so many of our bookings are from recommendations and hotel promotors we seldom receive enquiries with uncertainty. That said, we appreciate some clients may not have heard of us before and in these circumstances we are happy to reserve your date for 14 days. In the event someone else enquires for this date you will be offered first refusal.
- Q. Can we request a specific song for our 'first dance'?
Yes. You can select any song from our current set list or we can play your chosen track as an mp3 file before beginning our live set. Depending on your choice of song, we may be able to perform your first dance live. We ask for a minimum of 8 weeks notice of any song to allow for this.
- Q. How long does it take you to set up your equipment?
Normally, set up takes 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes. It is necessary for Pacific to carry out a 'sound check' to ensure the sound quality and volume level are appropriate for the venue and guests, which takes up to 10 minutes at the end of set up. Ideally Pacific prefer to sound check in an empty room. Sometimes this is not possible and in these instances we will proceed as quickly as possible.
- Q. Do you use a sequencer to 'fill out' your on-stage sound?
Pacific is fully live and therefore every sound you hear will be authentic. We believe that if you book a live band then that's exactly what you should get.
